Privacy Policy for CoverIt Home

Learn how account details, receipts and documents are processed.
Last updated 2 November 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how CHORIFY TECHNOLOGIES AS processes personal data when you use the CoverIt Home app, its backend, support features, payment solutions and websites associated with the service.

CoverIt Home is an app for individuals who want to record, document and organise belongings, receipts, photos, values and insurance-related documentation. The app can be used to create documentation and PDF reports that users can forward themselves, for example to an insurance company.

The content you enter in the app is private. It is visible to you in the app and to parties you choose to send exports or reports to. In normal operations, we do not have a feature for browsing or reading users' private belongings, receipts, photos or documents.

1. Data controller

The data controller for personal data in CoverIt Home is:

CHORIFY TECHNOLOGIES AS
Organisation number: 937 470 789
Norway
Contact: support@getcoverit.com

You can contact us using the email address above or through the support feature in the app.

2. Personal data we process

We only process personal data necessary to provide, secure, improve and administer CoverIt Home.

2.1 Account and profile information

When you create an account or use the app, we may process:

  • name
  • email address
  • phone number
  • address, postcode, city and country, if provided
  • customer number
  • selected language, currency and app settings
  • subscription and account status information
  • dates and times of registration, login and last activity

2.2 Information about belongings and documentation

When you use the app to document belongings, we may process:

  • item names and descriptions
  • category
  • value, purchase price and currency
  • purchase date
  • serial number, model, brand and other information you enter
  • photos of items
  • images or files related to receipts and documentation
  • PDF reports and insurance documentation generated in the app
  • metadata related to uploading, storage and synchronisation

You decide what information to enter. You should not upload information about other people unless it is necessary and you have the right to do so.

2.3 Support and communication

When you contact support, we may process:

  • name, email address and customer number
  • support case number
  • the content of your message to us
  • replies from support
  • support case status
  • the support agent assigned to the case
  • dates and times when the case was created, updated and closed

We use this information to help you, follow up on your request and document your support history.

2.4 Payments and subscriptions

If you upgrade to a paid subscription, we process information necessary to administer the subscription, including:

  • selected subscription type
  • subscription status
  • payment status
  • subscription or transaction IDs from Apple, Google Play, Stripe or another payment provider
  • information about purchases, renewals, cancellations and payment events
  • storage usage and number of registered items to enforce subscription limits

Full payment details are processed by the app store or payment provider. We do not store complete card numbers, CVC codes or similar payment card details on our servers.

2.5 Technical information and security logs

To operate and secure the service, we may process:

  • IP address
  • device information
  • technical logs and error messages
  • dates and times of API calls and logins
  • security events
  • push token if you enable notifications
  • storage usage information

This information is used to keep the service stable, prevent misuse, troubleshoot issues and protect user data.

2.6 Website page and store-link counts

We count page views on our homepage, Privacy Policy and Terms pages to understand website usage. We also count clicks on App Store and Google Play links, grouped by store and button location. A click does not confirm an installation, and scanning a QR code is not counted. The statistics store only daily totals for each page or button, without cookies, visitor identifiers, account details, IP addresses, referrers or URL parameters. Reloading a page counts as another view; these totals do not identify unique visitors. We skip counting when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. IP addresses may be processed briefly in memory to limit abuse, separately from the aggregate statistics and normal hosting security logs.

3. Why we process personal data

We process personal data for the following purposes:

  • creating and managing your user account
  • providing access to the app and stored data
  • storing and synchronising belongings, photos, receipts and documentation
  • generating PDF reports and insurance documentation
  • calculating storage usage, item counts and subscription limits
  • managing subscriptions and payments
  • providing customer service and handling support requests
  • sending necessary account, support, subscription or security messages
  • improving stability, security and the user experience
  • detecting and preventing errors, misuse or unauthorised access
  • complying with legal obligations, such as accounting and bookkeeping requirements

We do not use the content of your private item records, photos or receipts to sell advertising.

4. Legal bases for processing

4.1 Contract

We process information necessary to provide CoverIt Home to you, including accounts, login, storage, synchronisation, support, report generation and subscriptions.

4.2 Consent

Some processing is based on consent, such as access to your phone's camera or photo library, push notifications and any optional communications or features requiring specific permission. You can withdraw consent in your device settings or in the app where supported.

4.3 Legitimate interests

We may process technical logs, security data and usage information when necessary to secure the service, prevent misuse, fix errors, improve performance and stability, and understand whether the service is working as expected. We do this in a way that limits interference with your privacy.

4.4 Legal obligation

We process certain information when required by law, for example for accounting, bookkeeping, payment transactions, documenting agreements or responding to lawful requests from authorities.

5. Where information is stored

CoverIt Home uses cloud storage and server solutions to provide the service. Information may be stored with providers such as:

  • Render for backend/API hosting
  • Neon for the PostgreSQL database
  • Cloudflare R2 for object storage of photos, files and documentation
  • Apple, Google Play, Stripe or other relevant providers for payments, subscriptions, app distribution and notifications
  • Expo for app-related services
  • an email provider for sending support messages and account-related communications

We choose providers that offer appropriate security measures and enter into the necessary data processing agreements where relevant.

6. Transfers outside the EU/EEA

Some providers may process personal data outside the EU/EEA. If this happens, the transfer must be based on a valid transfer mechanism, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, an adequacy decision or other lawful mechanisms under data protection law.

7. Sharing information

We do not sell your personal data.

We only share information when necessary to provide the service, support you as a user or comply with legal requirements. This may include technical service providers, payment providers, email providers, support and administration tools, and public authorities where we are legally required to do so.

If you generate a PDF report or share documentation with an insurance company or other third parties, you are responsible for that sharing. Recipients only have access to what you choose to export or forward.

8. Retention periods

We retain personal data for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy. As a general rule:

  • account information is retained while the user account is active
  • belongings, photos, receipts and documentation are retained until you delete them or close the account
  • support requests are retained for as long as necessary for follow-up, documentation and security
  • payment and accounting information is retained for the period required by law
  • technical logs are retained only for as long as necessary for security, operations and troubleshooting

When information is no longer needed, it is deleted or anonymised unless we are legally required to keep it for longer.

9. Security

We use technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration and deletion. These measures may include:

  • access controls
  • encrypted communications
  • secure password procedures
  • restricted access for staff and support users
  • logging relevant security events
  • using professional hosting and storage providers
  • procedures for handling errors and security incidents

No digital service can guarantee absolute security. You should therefore use a strong password and avoid sharing your login details with others.

10. Your rights

You have rights under data protection law. Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:

  • request access to personal data we process about you
  • request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • request deletion of personal data
  • request restriction of processing
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • request data portability where the conditions are met
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet)

To protect your security, we may ask you to confirm your identity before handling a request.

11. Deleting your account and data

You can request deletion of your account and associated data. When the account is deleted, we will delete or anonymise personal data that is no longer necessary. Some information may still be retained if we need it to comply with legal obligations, handle disputes, document payments or maintain security.

12. Children

CoverIt Home is not directed at children under the age of 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from children without the necessary consent of a parent or guardian, we will delete the information as soon as possible.

13. Automated assessments

CoverIt Home may use automated features to suggest categories, read information from receipts, calculate storage usage or help organise data. These features are used to improve the user experience and do not, on their own, produce legal effects or similarly significant effects for you.

14. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when necessary, for example following changes to the app, providers, regulations or how we process personal data. If significant changes are made, we will provide information in the app, on the website or by email where necessary.

15. Contact
